National Museum of Anthropology
Simply unmissable: A tour in the Anthropology museum. Known as one of the best museums in the world, this is the best way to discover Mexico’s ancient civilizations. A must-do to start your trip. Due to its enormous area, it will be better to focus on regions and civilizations that you will be able to discover during your journey. One day in the Historical center
We recommend to spend at least one day discovering the Historical Center. The heart of this city was the main square to the Aztecs and their “Templo Mayor”, destroyed by the Spanish conquest in 1521. In order to understand the configuration of this central areal and its changes throughout time, it is necessary to get off at “Zocalo” Metro Station, where 3 scale models represent the 3 main periods of the city. Today you can enjoy the remains of the Colony time (with its Palaces and Major houses). You should visit some of the shops and restaurants to discover the interior architecture.

Visit the cathedral and also the National Palace who holds Diego Rivera’ sublime frescos (don’t forget to take with you your ID card) and walk along Madero Avenue which is exclusively pedestrian. You will ariive at La Alameda Central, a big park, where you can also find the Palacio de Bellas Artes (Beaux Arts Palace).

This museum shows Templo Mayor ruins, these are the Aztec original settlements that were found under colonial buildings. It has as well a museum having a lot of objects and sculptures of this era.
Antiguo Colegio de San Ildefonso
A fantastic building that used to be a junior high school then modified to be a Museum. In this amazing facility you can find modern art and temporary exhibitions.
Palacio de Iturbide – Banamex
The Banamex bank’s cultural foundation organize sublime temporary exhibitions in this palace who merits a tour. Free admission and the main to the building is on Madero pedestrian street.
Popular Art Museum
A beautiful Art Deco building. Here you will discover in several floors: Mexican arts and crafts of all over the country, full of colors! A very pleasant visit! Also, a wonderful palace, where are exhibited many decorative art pieces, from Spanish colonial settlements up until today.
